New york is a city that can literally swallow you up whole if it wants to and I guess this is the perfect description of what happened to me a few weeks ago. What started off as a three day trip to New York became less than 24 hours there casting for Victoria Secret (the initial reason I was there), symptoms a flight to L.A to do a show for Chloe, case a flight back to New York which then resulted in me staying another two and a half weeks- I only bought enough clothes for the three days. It was a crazy trip but one of my most enjoyable times in the city. Both Betty and Devanie were there so literally everyday was fun as we would meet up, rx no matter the time or motive and just enjoy ourselves. Whether it was meals at Café Habana in Soho or strip clubs or shopping, I was always with one of these two and it just made my time there so fun. Of course, the night life was poppin with pure hip hop and rnb all night until 5am at times with free entry, food and liquor to fuel our outings- models get treated really well in New York. I also became a lot closer with my other friends out there so I was never without a friend or someone looking out for me. I was there on Halloween and new Yorkers did not disappoint when it came to costumes- I was very crap and made a last minute outfit; black Miley Cyrus or Sexy Goth were the labels that stuck the most but I looked regular in comparison to the rest of the city which was alive with trick or treaters during the day and fantastic monsters during the night; London seemed tame. Work was great there and as well as the Chloe show in L.A I shot for Marie Claire USA and did a presentation for Calvin Klein that I am really proud of; all in all it was truly a ten out of ten trip. From three days to two and a half weeks was pure madness and meant I was buying clothes every single day which at times could be more of a hindrance than anything else but I did come back with some nice purchases (and a new big suitcase from China town). It was one of those spontaneous, unexpected perks of my job getting to play hard and work during the process (never first before the second mind you) and I actually left the city not ready to go which was a first… New york is a city that can literally swallow you up whole if it wants to and I guess this is the perfect description of what happened to me a few weeks ago.
